French Cotton Counts

French Cotton Counts
FRENCH COTTON COUNTS
The Continental metric system is used in France for numbering cotton yams, in which the number of hanks of 1,000 metres each required to weigh 500 grammes gives the counts. French hanks are divided into 10 skeins of 100 metres each. A convenient constant to change French into English and vice versa is 1.18. English count : 1.18 = French count. French count X 1.18 = English count.
